The '64 Light Motorcycle (LSM) is a hand-built, ultralight cafe racer designed for urban commuting or small town joyriding. Consider this the ultimate moped or motor scooter, boasting the looks of a proper motorcycle and the superior, exciting handling and ride style that come with it.

Your daily commute becomes a playful cruise, a trip to the coffee shop is now an opportunity to explore the neighbourhood, and you do it all without burning a drop of gasoline.

What You Need to Know Before You Ride

Your '64 LSM is officially classified as a Limited Speed Motorcycle under Canadian regulations. This is similar to a Moped, but has a few key differences.

What is an LSM?

  • Road Legal Motorcycle
  • 70 km/h Top Speed
  • No Pedals
  • Meets All Transport Canada Regulations

Mandatory Requirements for ALL Canadian Provinces:

  • Valid Driver's License Required: You must possess a valid driver's license (full privilege) or in some provinces, a motorcycle license to operate this LSM
  • Mandatory Insurance: LSM insurance is required in all provinces
  • Vehicle Registration: The '64 LSM must be registered
  • Helmet Mandatory: Always wear a DOT or ECE-approved helmet when riding
  • Minimum Age: Operator must be 18 years+ (or 16+ in some provinces with proper licensing)

Where You Can Ride:

  • Stick to roads - no bike lanes, sidewalks, or bike paths
  • Highway use may be restricted for LSMs, depending on provincial regulations
  • Follow all the regular traffic rules (just like in a car)
  • Don't drink and ride - same penalties apply

Every '64 LSM is hand-built by our employees at the Beachman HQ in Toronto, Canada, where you can come see the magic happen and even test out a bike for yourself fresh off the assembly line.

All '64 e-bike accessories are cross-compatible with the LSM (including the side car!) however some may not be able to be installed from the factory due to DOT non-compliance, and will ship separately from the bike.

If you have any questions about regulations or the bike itself, give us a call - (416) 604 1040

Beachman 64

I live in Downtown Vancouver and ride my 64 everyday! Going to work, to the gym, do my groceries, see my friends or simply exploring the city. Fantastic bike.

Overall, not terribly happy with it

The Bad
- Order took 179 days to arrive
- Bike lasted 14 days before the motor completely died. It will vibrate and shut itself off if I try to move it now.
- Speedometer and odometer are wildly inaccurate, you're better off guessing
- Bike gets nowhere near the advertised 90km range for "typical city use", I get about 50km (measured on a map) riding it exclusively on city roads before it dies
- Performance will also drop noticeably as battery drains, you will have to plan out a longer ride to make sure there are no 50km/h roads near the end.
- Charger advertises 4 hours to 80%. I timed it and it got to about 50% after that time. You'll have to charge it overnight to get to full. I once tried charging it from dead for two hours, I got 12km out of it before it died again.
- Twice the bike has left me stranded twice in the weeks I have owned it. Once because the battery ran out and once because the motor died.

The Good
- It looks great, you'll get a lot of compliments on it
- It's fun to ride
- It's pretty light, so when you have to push it for the last 4km it's not so bad

Overall, considering it cost me a total of $8600, I'm thinking it would have made more sense just to buy a gas powered motorcycle.

Absolutely Mental!!!!

This bike looks amazing. It rides even like a dream.
You forget that you are on an EV scooter. I feel like I felt when I had my Kawasaki Vulcan 30 years ago. What a vision you guys had at Beachman. It's parked in my driveway, and everyone who walks by stares at it.

Summer Dream Machine

I love this thing. It is a summer dream machine. Honestly, it is a joy swinging a leg over the saddle every single time. Couldn't be better for running around town, whether for errands, outings, or just a ride. It's a great investment - the dividends are paid in happiness.
